For Girl Scout Alumnae
Once a Girl Scout, Always a Girl Scout
Since Juliette Gordon Low founded Girl Scouting in 1912 in Savannah, Ga., with one troop of 18 girls, there have been more than 50 million girls who have built leadership skills through Girl Scouting! Research shows that Girl Scout alumnae now represent 70 percent of women serving in Congress, 64 percent of women listed in "Who's Who in America" and 53 percent of women business owners.
Join Still Growing Strong!
The Girl Scout Council of Southeast Louisiana's alumnae group, Still Growing Strong, was founded in 2003 to reunite former Girl Scouts and Girl Scout leaders and encourage them to reconnect with the Girl Scout Council of Southeast Louisiana.
Please think about your talents and the things you have learned and the skills you have acquired over the years. Think about how you can transfer some of these to today's girls as they become tomorrow's women.
We have prepared a checklist (this is PDF form) of some of our Council's needs. Please review it and mark any activities you would like to help us with. And do not be shy about adding anything you would like to contribute that we may not have included.
Sometimes the contemporary Girl Scout program may seem a bit confusing. Because of this we offer a two hour orientation to all current or re-connecting alumnae. In this orientation you will learn about our membership, the Council's properties, the Girl Scout program, and our current voluntary needs.
Please return the form to us as soon as possible so we can involve you in a meaningful manner with the Girl Scouts. If you have any questions or would like to speak to someone directly about volunteering, please call Donna Paramore, VP of Fund Development, at 504-733-8220, ext. 241.
All Alumnae cards from the Cookie booth sales are due at the Council Service Center by Friday, April 4. They can be either dropped off, or mailed to the Council office, attn: Cerise McClendon.
