Publications
Two helpful resource publications for volunteers include the Leader Resource Manual and the Program Planning Calendar.
The Leader Resource Manual comes in binder format and is a reference following volunteer orientation. Do not neglect attending orientation!
A yearly Program Planning Calendar (here in PDF format) is available one per troop each August to help you plan your troop’s year. Additional information can be found throughout the year in the Calendar section.

Annual Report: The Council yearly report to the community, complete with a financial statement, membership data, highlights of the year, and list of donors. The annual report is distributed in the spring prior to the Annual meeting to donors, community, religious organizations, schools, etc.
Blue Book of Basic Documents: The “Blue Book” is the GSUSA publication that includes national constitution, by-laws, policies, and credential information. An abbreviated version - "The Leader's Digest" is distributed to leaders.
Electronic Newsletter: Monthly email newsletter sent to volunteers and employees who request inclusion in the Email list. Announces new program activities and events, community service opportunities, calendar reminders and other pertinent information.
Girl Scout Catalog: Girl Scout uniforms, insignia, official items, unofficial novelties. Mailed annually to all registered members in the summer from GSUSA and also available at the Council Shop.
Girl Scout Leader Magazine: Girl Scouts of the USA's official magazine for adults in Girl Scouting. Mailed quarterly to all registered adults from GSUSA.
Just for Girls: Council newsletter mailed to all registered girls, published two to three times a year. Girls are encouraged to submit articles, photos and artwork.
Leader Resource Manual: Resource material for all registered troop leaders. Used in the orientation for new leaders, service unit team, trainers, employed staff and other adults providing direct services to girls.
Program Planning Calendar: Council membership year program calendar with program notes and reminders for great program activities and training courses each month. Distributed to all troops/groups.
Summer Resident Camp Brochure: Information and registration for sessions at Camp Whispering Pines resident camp. Mailed annually to all registered members in early February.
Volunteer Information Post (VIP): Council newsletter published three times a year. The VIP is mailed to registered Girl Scout members, donors, school principals, religious leaders, community and collaborative organizations. The Council encourages submissions of photos of troops in action or stories of interest.
