Adopt-A-Troop Program now ended!

A program created in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and Rita

A big thanks to all Girl Scouts and Girl Guides who made the Adopt-A-Troop program so successful! We received an overwhelming response and have now ENDED the program. Our focus is now in rebuilding our camping facilities to provide program, troop, resident and service unit camping for our members. If you would like to help in the rebuilding of our camps please go to "Save Our Camps."

In addition, please do not send ANY PACKAGES OR SUPPLIES!! Unfortunately we are unable to receive physical items (teddy bears, clothing, gift packages, etc) due to the damage to our Council office. Thank you for supporting the Girl Scout Council of Southeast Louisiana where girls continue to stay strong!

Part of the Girl Scout Law is the pledge to be sisters to every Girl Scout. The Girl Scouts of southeast Louisiana are glad to know that so many sister Girl Scouts from around the United States and Puerto Rico asked how they could help their sister troops and groups.

Our Adopt-A-Troop program which has now ended was designed to match out-of-the area troops of similar size and ages with troops that had been directly affected by this disaster. The Adopt-A-Troop program allowed sister troops to help bring our Council troops' lives back to a sense of normalcy and to give our troops a place to start again. Adopting troops wrote letters of encouragement, purchased Girl Scout gift certificates for the girls, and in many cases contact the troop leader directly to see what other needs they might fill.

If you adopted a troop, or were an "adopted" troop, you may purchase one of the Adopt-A-Troop patches from the Council Shop. To order, click here.

Thanks!

Daisy Girl Scout Troop 398 was adopted by a Girl Scout Troop in Hamel, Illinois who sent them Christmas cards and daisy smile pins that they made. Daisy Troop 398's way of showing their appreciation was to share a little bit of New Orleans with them by making Mardi Gras masks.

"The adopt a troop program is a great one, and we incorporated the sister to every Girl Scout petal with the activity that the girls really enjoyed," reports the troop leaders.
