"Real Girls, Real Women" Contest
May 2005
Girls who demonstrate courage, character and confidence make the world a better place and are the heart of Girl Scouting. The Real Girls, Real Women Contest celebrates all Girl Scouts (youth and adults) across the country who build courage, confidence and character everyday by putting the values of Girl Scouts into practice. How many do you know? How many can you find? Help us celebrate their accomplishments! The contest is open only to girls and adults in Girl Scouts.
Look around you.
Do you see a registered girl scout or adult member, volunteer or employee of Girl Scouts…
…standing up for a friend?
…taking on a leadership role?
…sharing compliments for a successful project?
…wearing a smile on tough days?
…sharing new ideas to make Girl Scouting more fun?
…proudly telling others about her Girl Scout membership?
Find and meet new Girl Scouts!
Is it your Neighbor? Teacher? City council representative? Local newspaper reporter? Coach? Church minister or rabbi? Piano teacher? Doctor? Friend's mother or sister?
Maybe it's another volunteer or a Girl Scouts employee…the list goes on!
You can enter the contest as many times as you want.
What's in it for you?
When you enter people in the contest, you join in the celebration ...and you feel great recognizing others who deserve it. You might also find their pictures and your words on the Real Girl, Real Women web site.
Plus there will be all kinds of prizes! Maybe you will WIN for being the girl or adult who enters the most Girl Scout Alumnae. Or WIN for entering the most creative digital picture. New prizes will be announced throughout the contest, so keep checking back on www.RealGirlsRealWomen.org!
What's in it for them?
Your nominee may be included in the Real Girls, Real Women film that will be shown at the 2005 National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
It just takes four easy steps to enter! Enter as many different people as you want! (But girls are asked to find and only nominate women who were Girl Scouts during their childhood or teen years--not current adult volunteers or employees of Girl Scouts.)
1. Tell Us.
Tell us a real story about a girl or adult you find in Girl Scouts who demonstrates courage, character and confidence. Tell us how Girl Scouting nurtured these qualities.
2. Show Us Using New and Fun Technology.
Through a digital picture you create, let us see the courage, character and confidence that you see in your nominee.
3. Register.
Fill out (or have your parent/guardian fill out) a contest registration and entry form.
4. Send it in!
Email your story, picture and entry form to www.RealGirlsRealWomen.org.
REMEMBER, ALL ENTRIES MUST BE IN BY JUNE 15, 2005!!!
