National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Tulane

Proclaimed a national day by Congress each year since 1987, the National Girls and Women in Sports Day is celebrated each February and recognizes the progress of girls and women in sports and the benefits that sports and fitness activities can bring to the lives of all girls and women.

Pre-game activities are free. Free T-shirts and bracelets will be passed out at the basketball game. To register, call William Thacker at Tulane at (504) 862-8223.

Camp Rocks!

Camp Rocks! That's what our resident campers say about summer camp at CWP, so it's no surprise that it's the theme of the 2008 summer camp. Sessions begin June 8 and end July 18, and prices are $165 for a four-day session and $250 for a six-day session. Click here for session information, and more!

Day Camp volunteers needed

Day Camp is a great way to spend a week during the summer, but we need volunteers since Day Camps are run entirely by volunteers! The Girl Scout Council is currently accepting volunteer applications for day camp staff in our 13-parish area. No experience is required as all training will be provided upon approval of the volunteer application.

The time you volunteer might be the difference between girls having a day camp to attend or not. In 2007, we only had six day camps. Please consider being a volunteer. Fill out the application form here and submit it to the Council’s Program Department before February 1, 2008.

Council Trainers needed

Trainers are needed, especially for age level and OLS training. We really need your skills and experience and love of Girl Scouts to mentor a new generation of leaders.

An upcoming Training date is Saturday, January 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Girl Scout Service Center. Click here for the trainer application.

For more information about becoming a trainer please click here or contact Yvette Hairston, Adult Development Director at yhairston@girlscoutssela.org
