Leadership Training
Course Descriptions:
Leading a Girl Scout troop is fun! It's also a very influential and important role. Leadership training is required for all adults who work with girls. Training courses are designed to help adults working in a variety of leadership positions to guide the girls through the four Girl Scout program goals. Troop leadership, interest group and program presenters are provided training focused on the aspects of the Girl Scout program within which they will be working.
New troop leaders and assistant troop leaders are required to complete Orientation to Girl Scouting, Troop Leadership Module 1, and Troop Leadership Module 2 for their chosen age level. Experienced troop leaders and assistant troop leaders who are moving to another age level and have previously completed Orientation to Girl Scouting and Troop Leadership Module 1 are required to complete a Troop Leadership Module 2 for their new age level.
The Orientation is scheduled with a service unit team member or field executive. Orientation is a prerequisite for all leadership modules. At the conclusion of the conference, the participant will receive a "Pre-course Assignment" to be completed prior to attending Troop Leadership Module 1. An age level handbook and/or Leader's Guide is needed to complete the pre-course assignment.
