Outdoor Training
Welcome to Outdoor Training! It's fun to go camping, and it applies all of the Girl Scout Program Goals in an adventurous setting. These courses provide leaders with the tools and techniques to make it safe for the girls.
Each part qualifies adults to lead girls in progressively challenging outdoor adventures. The courses must be completed in order, and there must ample time between parts for practice and transfer of skills to girls.
Outdoor Progression
The hurried child of today must race from activity to activity, rarely having an opportunity to affirm her newly developed skills. In Girl Scouting, we believe the girl should be the "doer" in every aspect of her outdoor progression, so that she may be unhurried and feel self-assured in her new-found skills. Every troop must have a trained outdoor leader before planning for a day outing with a cookout or a camping trip. Remember that progression is the critical component to guide girls in outdoor education - we want them to be self-sufficient with trained guidance.
